Global Handwashing Day (GHD) is a global advocacy day dedicated to increasing awareness about the importance of hand hygiene, especially through handwashing with soap, and triggering lasting change from the policy level to community-driven action. The 2020 GHD theme is ‘Hand Hygiene for All’, a call to action to make hand hygiene a reality for all. This theme aligns with the new Hand Hygiene for All Initiative led by the WHO and UNICEF. As a response to this advocacy, the Department of Education-Schools Division of Paranaque City released a memorandum last October 13, 2020. The memo asked all schools to participate in the Virtual Global Handwashing activity held on October 15, 2020 at 9:30 AM. The school, in turn, informed all students, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to enjoin the said activity. The WinS coordinator also discussed this activity with the class advisers through the messenger group of the class advisers. The objectives of the said event were also emphasized. The class advisers in return informed their students and parents about the activity. During and after the Synchronized Handwashing activity, teachers and students submitted their pictures while joining the activity. These pictures were collated and were compiled by sections. The activity truly showed that anyone and everyone can really be advocates of this year’s theme “Hand Hygiene for All”.
